Review: Death Comes to Dogwood Manor

Image
Death Comes to Dogwood Manor by Sandra Bretting My rating: 5 of 5 stars Death comes to Dogwood Manor is the 4th book in the Missy DuBois Mystery series by Sandra Bretting. Although I haven’t read the previous books in this series, I found that this book was easy to get into and I got to know the characters quickly. Although I would suggestion going back to read the first book, the author did a good job of catching the reader up on what was going on in the characters’ lives if they are not familiar with the series. The main character, Missy, is likeable and has an interesting business of catering to brides with her hat boutique. There are some other fun characters as well that keep you entertained and engaged throughout the book, including a love interest and a friendly law enforcement officer (who are not one in the same as in most current mysteries it seems, which is a definite plus). The mystery begins when a billionaire dies and Missy unfortunatel...

Review: Ghost Busting Mystery

Image
Ghost Busting Mystery by Daisy Pettles My rating: 5 of 5 stars If you're looking or a fast paced humorous mystery involving senior sleuths then this book is for you. Lots of laugh out loud moments along with a well planned mystery. Do not read this book in public because you might make a spectacle out of yourself when reacting to this engaging and funny book. I really enjoyed the story and characters and the author portrayed the setting in a such a detailed manner that you'll think you've been transplanted right in the middle of an apple orchard in Knobby Waters, Indiana! I thought this was a great first in series and I'm eager to read more books by this author. View all my reviews

Review: Hide and Sneak

Image
Hide and Sneak by G.A. McKevett My rating: 4 of 5 stars Another fun Savanna Reid book where west coast fame meets southern charm! Savannah and her detective agency get the job of a lifetime when an honest to goodness movie star hires to to find his wife and son. Although lots of clues point to the husband, Savannah (and the reader) can pretty much be sure he isn't the culprit. Lots of twists and turns will have you guessing until the end. Savannah's adorable niece also makes an appearance! This book was enjoyable and I look forward to reading more books in this series. View all my reviews

Review: Read and Gone

Image
Read and Gone by Allison Brook My rating: 5 of 5 stars Another fun Haunted Library Mystery! I read this book quickly and it was as enjoyable as the first in the series. The main character, Carrie, has such a fun job! She gets to oversee events at the library, take her adorable cat with her to work, and now and then hangs out with a ghost! The ghost is Evelyn, a former library staff member, who gives her advice and is just someone really nice to talk to. I thought she played a bigger role in the last book but she was still a great addition to the story, especially when she gives advice on how to handle Carrie's nemesis (who happens to be Evelyn's crotchety niece)! All in all it was a well planned mystery and it will appeal to anyone who loves cozy mysteries set a Christmas time. I am eager to read the next in the series. I voluntarily read and reviewed this book via NetGalley. View all my reviews
